Last month 300 schoolgirls vanished from Chibok in the northeastern region of Nigeria. Kidnapped by Boko Haram, a militant terrorist organization that has been active for years, officials confirmed that 276 remain missing and may have been split up to integrate into human trafficking channels.

Upon the news of the abduction the international community agonized and created a movement to persuade the Nigerian government to get involved in finding them. From London to Los Angeles women and men have rallied to persuade the government to make an active effort to find the girls.

Currently a small team of U.S. advisers is working with the Nigerian military in Abuja to survey the area and analyze the situation. But there are no plans for the U.S. to get involved. In addition to urging your local government to get the U.S. military involved, we can all continue keep the girls in our thoughts.

For a breakdown on the kidnapping and efforts go here. And to stay in a positive space, see all the gorgeous Nigerian bloggers on the next pages.
