Driver is Charged with Death By Auto in Tracy Morgan Crash
There’s been an outpouring of prayers, tweets and messages by the entertainment community sent to family and friends of Tracy Morgan. The comedian was involved in a fatal car accident Saturday morning around 1 a.m., leaving him critically injured and killing another man.
A Georgia truck driver is charged with death by auto after slamming into the 2012 Mercedes Sprinter transporting the comedian and other passengers, including his opening act, Ardie Fuqua, after leaving a performance at a Delaware casino. Post-impact, the van flipped over resulting in serious injuries. Four other cars were involved in the crash.

The 36-year-old actor, best known for his lengthy stints on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, remains in critical condition after being airlifted to a nearby hospital. Two other passengers also remain in critical condition, while another has been released from the hospital. Comedian James McNair, better known as “Jimmy Mack,” was killed as a result of the collision.
Kevin Roper, 35, is charged with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto after the New Jersey Turnpike accident. He was driving for Walmart.

The popular retailer released a statement about the accident, “We offer our deepest condolences,” says Walmart’s President and CEO, Bill Simon. He continued, “We can’t change what happened, but we will do what’s right for the family of the victim and the survivors in the days and weeks ahead.”
Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor and Col. Joseph R. Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, announced the charges against the tractor-trailer driver. He is expected to surrender to authorities and his bail is set at $50,000. Officials say they do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.
